Aware that start-ups and SMEs are looking for tailor-made, pragmatic and cost effective solutions, Siobhan founded SMC International Expansion in 2019. 

Siobhan’s mission is for SMC to be the preferred alternative to the large corporate consulting/outsourcing firms. She leads a small but highly experienced team in delivering a more personal, agile and hands on service. Her passion for service delivery is infectious and her whole team reflects the culture of putting the clients' needs first as their priority. 

Siobhan knows that one of the biggest challenges of international expansion is sourcing (and then managing) numerous untested contacts in each location. This time consuming task brings with it the risk of not always knowing what questions to ask and the ongoing sense of unease that something important will be missed. Instead, our clients have confidence in SMC, that we are always available to advise on matters in any jurisdiction by leveraging our network of experienced local professionals. They rely on their single point of contact acting as their eyes and ears in country whilst proactively managing their compliance obligations.

Siobhan has been working within the International Expansion sector for many years, guiding predominantly privately owned/venture capital backed technology and life science companies in their global expansions. 

She previously held senior Regional Finance roles for more than 25 years with US global corporations within the Technology, Biotech and Pharmaceutical sectors, including European Controller at 3Com & Equinix and European PMO director at Yahoo! She has also been responsible for setting up and running a number of large European Shared Service Centres as well as project managing both SAP and Oracle implementations.  

As a result, when advising clients, Siobhan is able to leverage her first-hand experience of International Finance, Procurement, HR and Legal challenges that clients often face when expanding into new territories. This allows her to empathise with the needs of clients and offer solutions that ensure local compliance, provide the necessary operational controls and meet corporate/US GAAP/SOx requirements. 

Siobhan’s global outlook probably comes from having been raised in Belgium and Germany as an expat and having subsequently lived and worked in a number of countries in Europe and North America. Siobhan loves the richness of working with different languages, cultures and customs.

Educated in Brussels (primarily at French speaking schools), Siobhan moved to the UK to read Mathematics at Salford University, Manchester, before completing a post graduate Business Management qualification.

Siobhan is a Chartered Management Accountant (CIMA).
